Have you heard of the WIM HOFF method?

Share the love

I’ve seen this word thrown around enough to spark my curiosity and delve deeper into what it means.

It turns out ‘Wim Hoff’ is actually a person, also fondly known as the ‘Ice Man,’ Wim has made a name for himself by testing himself in some of the most freezing elements in nothing more than a pair of shorts, broken more than 20 world records and continues to defy scientific odds with his cold water exposure and immersion. Wim uses a specific breathing technique to regulate his body temperature in cold water and has been doing so for more than 25 years.

Lond story short I’m going to start turning the hot off when I shower in the morning to see if it helps give me energy for the day and I will start with 15 seconds of cold water and build up to 2 minutes within 6 days.

I will mainly do this in the shower but will sometimes try and get to the ocean and jump right in!

They say that 10 days is all it takes to see and feel the difference!

Day 1 – 15 seconds cold

Day 2 – 30 seconds cold

Day 3 – 45 seconds cold

Day 4 – 1 minute cold

Day 5 – 1 minute 30 seconds cold

Day 6 – 2 minutes cold

This is the plan, today is the 12th January, 2023, so I’ll start Day 1 tomorrow 13th January, and that will have me reviewing at Day 10 on the 23rd January, 2023.

I love challenging myself to new things, and if you know me well, you know cold water isn’t my jam but I’m still excited! I can do this, I just have to create the habit so I actually do the task! It also helps when I make a decision that I know is going to benefit me. If I find something hard to do, (Like giving up hot chips) I think about how good I will feel when I have done what I told myself I would do. If we rely on other people to stick to their word with us, surely we can keep our word to ourselves? It’s all about choosing yourself first to make you a better person for everyone!

What is a new habit you can create or break today? Comment below
